NYC Bombing

Early on Saturday, September 17, a bomb exploded in a garbage can at the beginning of a race in Seaside Park, New Jersey. Later that day, another bomb went off in New York City, injuring 29 people. A second device was found nearby but luckily never exploded. The next day, five more bombs were found inside of a trashcan in Elizabeth, New Jersey. One of these bombs exploded as the bomb squad attempted to defuse the bomb, but no casualties were reported.

The FBI identified Ahmad Khan Rahami as a suspect on Monday morning. Rahami is a 28 year old who was living in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the same town that several of the bombs were found. Later that day, Rahami was captured following a shooting with the police in Linden, New Jersey in which Rahami was shot by the police force and taken to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect is being brought up on charges of attempted murder, as well as illegal ownership of a weapon and having a weapon for illegal purposes.

It is still still unclear as to whether or not Rahami worked alone or if he had help. There is some video footage of other men at the scene of one of the incidents; however, it is not certain that they were involved in the incident. Also, it is still unknown if the family had any information that these events were going to occur. The family has asked for some privacy during this time period and have not said whether or not they knew anything about the incidents.
