Homecoming at Bacon Academy
By: Jenna PanFifteen dollars. What exactly can that get you here at Bacon Academy? Well I’ll tell you what your hard earned money will do for you. Ever wished for a chance to dance your heart away in a crowd of highschool teenagers? That’s exactly what you’ll get when you buy a homecoming ticket from the student council before the 7:30 bell in the morning and/or the student council booth at lunch. With this ticket, you will have power to party the night away with your closest friends and create memorable experiences for you and your friends to look back on fondly.
Prior to this momentous event, you are to experience the planned days of Spirit week. Spirit week 2016 consisted of: Breast Cancer Awareness Day (Friday), USA Day (Monday), Decades Day (Tuesday), Class Color Day (Wednesday), and Blue and Gold Day (Friday). Each grade continuously competes for points to eventually earn a certain amount of money to either donate a portion to a charity of that grades choosing.
In the end, Seniors won the trophy and bragging rights (as per usual) to end off their last homecoming pep rally here at Bacon Academy. Post assembly, students went home from the last day of spirit week to go home and rest up before Saturday’s festivites. The homecoming game is essentially the idea behind the “homecoming” the dance. This year, Bacon played the Plainfield Panthers, while the cheerleaders and dancers encouraged them to do their best. Unfortunately, the Bacon Academy Bobcats lost to the Plainfield Panthers ending with 12-24. However, this did not stop the Bobcats from partying the night away!.
Students went home and got ready for their big night that began at 7 and ended at 10. The weather caused students to be rallied in the music wing in order to prevent anyone from standing in the cold. Everyone took photos of one another, while expressing their admiration for everyones dresses and hair. After waiting for quite some time, the doors finally opened.
Of course first thing’s first, to ensure our safety, all students took a breathalyzer test before checking in. After all the technicalities were worked out, students would head to the auditorium to drop off their shoes, wallets, etc. in order to party the night away carefree.
Come Saturday, the weather would be gloomy and cold, but the night would simply be glorified with the rampaging music and the crowds of teenagers waiting to approach their decorated dance floor.
This year’s theme--Black and White--prevailed as students entering down the stairs would come across black and white streamers strung from the ceiling. Once past, students entered the gym with the strung ceiling lights and strobe lights going off from the DJ (who, by the way, was amazing). Each and every person could feel the excitement radiate from the moment they entered to the moment they left. Music continuously went throughout the night until the last iconic song came on, “Raise Your Glass” by Pink. Continuous dancing, some crowd surfing, and the occasional teacher splitting up some dancers went on for the next 3 hours, and it was truly a night full of memories for everyone.
I am sorry. Is this two articles? I just realized when I checked the excel sheet. If it is, then resubmit with two distinct articles. I put it in chronological order, if that makes sense.
