Bacon Academy's Volleyball Teams
With a busy schedule of games, Bacon Academy’s volleyball teams, Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity, are getting a hard work at practices to get good results. Varsity and Freshman coach, Scott Dumond, said that practices are good, but need more serious effort towards getting better.
Last Saturday, the freshman team went to the Plainfield High School to compete in a tournament. Their objective was try and win against the other schools you play against and to win the tournament. They play one game against each team, each game include 5 sets. The best out of 3 win that game.
According to the coach, Scott Dumond, games have been up and down: one they are great, and the next they aren’t very good. His goals are to make the team better skilled, better people, and win more games.
Lindsay Amor, a JV player, said that the team is way better this year. Everyone is a lot better and doing their best and it’s showing. “We got our first win in 2 years, which is fantastic!” She also said that they need to play to the best of their ability in practice to be able to do so in games, but practice should still be fun. “We definitely have things to work on as a team, but I have no doubt that we’ll reach our goals this season.” Her goals for this year are to improve and get a better, stronger serve. She also wants to work on her jump serve and get more playing time on Varsity.
Sami, Senior and Varsity player, said that in her Senior year with volleyball she wants to work hard, practice hard, give it her all. It is her last year, and she wants to make some memories and have fun as a team while also winning. “I’ve been on Varsity for 4 years now, and it’s great being able to see people grow and the program grow. As a goal I want to leave knowing we have a better team and that Bacon volleyball is going to leave it’s mark on the school and the league, and that volleyball isn’t just a joke and that we are actually good.”
So, it’s explicit how the girls love to play volleyball and how they want to do their best to the team. They recognize what they have to do to improve themselves and consequently improve the team. With persistence and hard work they are always trying to get good results.
