January 21, 1971 - The Emley Moor transmitting station begins to transmit UHF Broadcasts

Standing at 1,084 ft. tall, the Emley Moor Tower in West Yorkshire, England, is the 24th tallest tower in the world. On the above mentioned date, this tower began to transmit UHF (Ultra high frequency) broadcasts, commonly used for television and radio programs. Today, the tower has a broadcasting range of about 10,000 square kilometers.
