October 10, 732 - Islamic Advance Into Europe is Halted at the Battle of Tours
Following the conquest of Iberia, the Arab-led Umayyad Caliphate began to press Northwards into the rest of the continent. October 15, 1991 - First Observation of the “Oh My God Particle”
The “OMG Particle” was named so by astrophysicists due to its’ unprecedented behavior; it was an ultra-high-energy cosmic ray (a blast of high energy radiation) that was 100 quintillion times more energetic than the photon energy of visible light. This was because the particle, though containing more energy than visible light, wasn’t actually traveling faster - it was traveling 99.99999999999999999999951% of the speed of light, so fast that it would take a photon 215,000 years to gain a one centimeter lead on the particle. Since the first recording, 72 similar events have been recorded.
