On February 22, 2019 the Bacon Academy novice and advanced debate teams both competed at the Dr. Grace Sawyer Jones Debate semi-finals at Three Rivers Community College. The novice team -- with members Dan Alexander, Julia Horlitz, Clare McIntyre, and Sara Rosenthal -- competed against the Marine Science Magnet High School. While they did not win their respective debate, all members competed very well and had improved significantly since their first debate where they triumphed over the Norwich Free Academy debate team. At the first debate, Bacon’s advanced team also won, this time against the Norwich Free Academy’s advanced team. Team members Abbie Auden, Caitlyn Bagdasarian, Olivia Donahue, and Dylan Rosenthal emerged victorious against New London High School’s team, and continued on to compete in the finals. Here, the accomplished rhetoricians scored Bacon Academy yet another debate trophy with their first place win!
