IT Chapter 2 Movie Review
Horror films are creeping their way back into theaters. IT Chapter 2 came out in theaters September 6, 2019. It has since gotten decent ratings from movie critics- 63% on Rotten Tomatoes and an average 3 out of 5 stars. This film seems to be more of a liked movie through the public than through critics, as I have yet to hear a complaint from those who have seen it but have seen several from critics.
Many people have different perspectives of the movie; some found it funny, some found it sad, and others found it scary. Although I believe it was just intended to be a scary film, I do see how all of these emotions were present during the film. There were numerous times I found myself laughing at scenes I did not think I would have and, of course, crying at others. When it comes to being scared, I am a very easy target and find jump scares the most frightening part to a horror movie. There were several of them, almost making me poop my pants, but overall the movie was focused on the overarching message of the movie and the graphics. The graphic designers did an incredible job making the special effects for Pennywise and other violent scenes.
In comparison to the first movie, I personally liked IT better. This was mainly because my favorite piece of eye candy, Jaeden Lieberher, the actor who plays Bill, was shown throughout the entire film. However, in IT Chapter 2 he was only shown in a few scenes for minimal amounts of times since the second movie was focused mainly on the kids all grown up. While I was sad to not be able to see Lieberher more, the concept of the movie based on the kids 27 years later was an incredible idea. Some sequels to movies almost do a remake of the first movie and it is just overall very unoriginal, but with IT Chapter 2, this movie not only did an amazing job of making it new and exciting, but also still tied into the first movie.
I highly recommend watching this movie or even buying it; I know I could watch over and over again.
